Unconventional music video

The unconventional artist and song that I have chosen is a song by a japanese group. The name of the group is Mini Moni they do japanese pop songs that seem appealing to their own culture but seem out of place for the rest of the world.

The song that they did is called 'AQUI AQUI' this made it as a number 1 in the Japanese music charts and I believe that it wouldn't have even made it into the top 100 in the UK charts. The reasoning for this is because it is so unconventional.

The first thing that I noticed with this music video is the costumes that the characters are wearing. They are dressed in a mixture of clothing ranging from baby clothes to cheer leader clothes and then the main man in the video is wearing traditional Japanese clothes. In the normal music videos people would wear clothes that are in the latest fashion and are likely to set a trend. I do not believe that this is the same in Japan, these clothes cannot be fashionable!

The second thing that I noticed was the unconventional background, this background is full of flashing colours and cartoon objects dancing around. This is not a normal thing to have in a pop music video, this looks as if it is targeting an audience with the age ranges of 1-6 and this would then not be appreciated by the dominant older population.

Another unconventional thing that i found in the music video is the way people are dancing, they are dancing in a way as if they have not been taught by professionals, it is more dancing that has been made up on the spot. This then makes the video unprofessional and is less likely to get a good audience and good reviews.

The final unconventional thing that I found in this video is the way the camera angles and movements and also editing. It has been done in a way that is really jumpy and does not focus on one in particular thing it focuses on all of the set and the characters and can be very confusing at times. They have also edited it in a way that some people are flying and jumping really high which makes it unrealistic, this is completely different to the normal pop music video. The pop music videos should be full of things about life or love. They should not be about random people dancing in weird clothes. I am taking this into account and will not be doing anything like this for my music video.
